Tim Tebow ... should be applauded for standing up for his convictions
In today's sports climate, expressing an opinion often results in serious backlash. In some cases, an athlete's choosing to do what Tebow is doing might be professional suicide.
Tebow's decision to appear in this ad should be considered just as courageous as Muhammad Ali's decision to not enter the draft, or Tommie Smith's and John Carlos' black power salute at the 1968 summer Olympics.
Strangely fascinated by the Tebow ad controversy. My opinion fwiw: (1) CBS is hypocritical for airing the ad given stuff they've rejected in the past, but it's their show, they can do what they want (2) Like the author of quoted ESPN article, I think Tebow should be applauded for standing up for what he believes in, given the obvious risk to his (already likely to be short-lived) pro football career and the endorsements that would come with it if he stood for nothing like most everyone else.
